Nepal is a country filled with culture and history and has many breathtaking sites that are a little off the beaten path. Outside the small town of Palpa, between two of the most frequented Hindu pilgrimage destinations, namely Ridi and Ramdi, is the spectacular Ranighat Palace. Its construction site overlooks the Terai plains, the unpredictable tides of the Kali Gandaki River and the surround mountain landscape, on which the palace is built.
The majestic mountain peaks of Mount Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, Lhotse, and others like them in Nepal, have attracted thousands of trekkers each year. Some enjoy casual trekking to purely take in the landscapes and marvel at nature; while others come to Nepal to challenge their bodies, their minds and their determination.
The legends that surround ancient monuments and shrines have always intrigued foreign visitors, and the stories lure them to visit these attractions. Many tourists come to Nepal to explore the magnificent architecture and design of the old buildings. The engineering feats that were accomplished are breathtaking, and the mystery and atmosphere of the monuments can almost be felt in the air. One of these spectacular monuments in Nepal, which has become a popular tourist attraction, is the shrine of Manakamana.
Mountain bike and road running enthusiasts are preparing for battle in the increasingly popular Berghaus Yak Attack – a road runner versus mountain biker race held along the Annapurna circuit in the Himalayas of Nepal, from March 6 through to March 18, 2008. This grueling circuit provides many exciting challenges for even the most seasoned athlete.
