If you’re looking to try something new, why not climb the third highest mountain in the world? A climb up this beautiful peak will give you the chance to see a whole new side of Nepal. The abundant natural treasures to be found in the area combined with a rich and fascinating cultural legacy simply cannot be understated.
Nepal is renowned as an adventure sports destination, filled with beautiful scenery. From trekking to mountain biking in the Himalayas, such activities have always attracted thousands of visitors to Nepal each year, and will always remain famous for the treacherous test of human endurance in the form of Mount Everest. Many climbers have lost their lives on the mountain whilst desiring to conquer their fears and fulfill their dreams, and many more will still try. However, putting Mount Everest in a new light while creating a new adventure sport in the country was the aim of Everest Sky Dive 2008.
Motivated by stories of frustration from female adventurers who want to explore the beauty of Nepal, but feel restricted because of their gender, three enterprising sisters decided to rise to the challenge of establishing an adventure trekking company that would be run by women, for women. In the early 1990s, when the sisters’ plans started to take shape, it was unheard of for a Nepalese woman to guide a trek, and certainly a female-run trekking company was considered beyond impossible – but not for the Chhetri sisters, Lucky, Dicky and Nicky.
Between the 15th and the 19th of October 2008, Kathmandu, Nepal, will be coming alive with the sounds of blues bands, which include local and international musicians and groups. Various venues around Kathmandu will be used to host the different evenings of entertainment, music and fun, and it is set to be one of the most vibrant and colorful music events of the year for Nepal. Anyone visiting Nepal during this period is advised to attend the Himalayan Blues Festival, as it is a unique experience and a wonderful festival for all to enjoy.
With World Tourism Day fast approaching, Nepal officials have come up with a rather unique way of combating global warming. They plan to institute a law that requires that all tourists entering Nepal will have to either plant a tree or sponsor one. This will go a long way reducing the carbon footprint left by these tourists when they are visiting the country.
